Hunger Mountain
What a good weekend. It went kind of like this:
Saturday:
- Wood, wood, wood, wood
- Fresh steak from the Farmer's Market and margaritas with Julie
- Bonfire with toasted marshmallows
Sunday:
- Hike!
- Mow, mow, mow
- Wood, wood
- Cheeseburgers
Julie did some great gardening too. It was HOT, but beautiful around here.Julie and I trade mornings to sleep in on weekends... instead of sleeping in yesterday I decided to go for a hike. It was the right decision. Here in Middlesex, just a few miles from our house, is the trailhead for Hunger Mt. From parking to the top of the mountain is 2.7 miles, about perfect for a morning hike, with about 1900' of ascent. The top 1/2 mile of hike is in alpine zone, and on bedrock with tremendous views. When I got to the summit I fell in love. The top was bare, with 360 degree views all around of Middlesex, Waterbury, t
he reservoir, Camel's Hump, Stowe. There are few things as enjoyable as being on the top of a bare mountain. And it's right near our house! I don't know how I lived here for a year and missed it, but am now planning on making this a weekly activity whenever I can. Come visit and hike the mountain!
