New happenings
Work around the house is being split between outside and inside. I spent Saturday morning digging a bonfire pit in the backyard, and painstakingly lining it with rock. My friends Tim and Jon were up with their families on Sat night, and we gave it a go, but all the wood was too wet from the weekends rain, so we watched Caddyshack instead. We're having a cinco de mayo party for the VT locals this weekend, and we'll give it another go then. Tequila and bonfires go well together, we heard.
I'm starting to go room-to-room to finish up working on the house. I'm hitting the kitchen first. I got all the handles on the cabinets, put up some trim around the cabinets where you could see some of the plywood infrastructure, and got that stained. Put some brackets under the edge of the countertop to help support it. The countertop that Joe made came out gorgeous, especially after being treated with stain and epoxy. It's ultra-glossy like in a bar, and Julie got me a set of bar stools that have also now been stained and polyurethaned. All I need now is a little TV, a tap, and a bowl of peanuts, and I can hang out there after hours too. I also started the process of staining the pine trim. It's going to be a long process.
