snow!!

We're spending the day digging out from the 2nd largest blizzard in the history of record-keeping in Vermont. We estimate that we got a little over 30 inches in less than 24 hours between early Weds morning and late Weds night. A great snowy mess!

In our few years living in DC, we got used to the city shutting down entirely for many days for any storm that predicted at least 6 inches of snow. And often there was panic and stocking up on bottled water for much less than that, as apparently happened on Tues (link supplied by Carissa). But for 30 inches in VT, Julie's state offices closed early Weds, and opened a bit late on Thurs. The first two pictures were actually taken yesterday morning after we'd already gotten several inches. The other two are the same landmarks 18 hours later.
