Plumbing
Joe's been working furiously on the plumbing and heating in the house over the last few weeks. He's got the drainage for the first floor done, mostly, and has a great start on the supply lines for the first floor as well. We're using "Pex" plumbing, which, if like me you don't know much about plumbing, is plastic tubing used to carry water to the bathrooms, kitchen, etc. It's much cheaper than copper, it's faster and easier to work with, and is very colorful to boot. here's a picture of the end of the drainage right before it shoots out the basement wall and into the septic tank. Also notice that we got our basement windows installed. And you can see our lush green lawn in the back yard.
We have radiant floor heat under the kitchen. The pex tubing snakes back and forth under the kitchen floor between the joists, and snaps into these aluminum heat transfer plates and circulates hot water which will help keep our kitchen nice and toasty in the winter.
