Electricity
Joe started running all the electrical (and cable, and phone) wire this past week. Along with some of the piping for hot water in our heating system. The first floor is pretty much ready to go with electricity. All of the wires are run to switch and receptacle boxes, and we even have a couple of live outlets. Joe's neighbor and friend, Rick, came up on Saturday. He's a real live electrician and genuine nice guy, and he helped Joe bring electricity from our outside meter box to our inside service panel. Without having the power company turn off the juice (neat trick).
Julie and Eric and I helped where we could. This mainly involved drilling a massive number of holes through our basement joists and feeding wire through the holes to various points in the house. This was particularly hard to do in the corner of the basement where we have >2000 sq. ft. of rigid insulation piled up. It's been sitting there for months, and is still full of smelly stagnant water from before the house was weather-proofed. Good times.
