Back and better than ever
We had a big work week at the new house this week, in addition to a couple other big things going on. I took a week off of blogging, but now have lots of good pictures and should be putting up several new posts in the next few days. Good times.
In non-house news, Evie and AJ got signed up for day care, starting at the end of August. They'll go 3 days/week, and Julie and I'll both work 4 day work weeks ourselves. I'll be working on the house full time this fall while looking for a "normal" job to occupy my time after we get moved into the house. If any one wants to hire me, please let me know. I'll do just about anything.
Also, Farley underwent ACL surgery in both her hind legs this past Thursday. It was coming down to the point where we were going to have to decide to put her down or get her healed up. Since she's probably got another good half dozen years in her, and since neither one of us were prepared for the first possibility, and since the surgery (while still expensive) was about a thousand dollars LESS than we thought it was going to be, we decided to get her back to her old spry self. That's what credit cards are for.
It turns out that the ACL in her left leg was 95% torn, and 50% torn in her right. The surgery was very successful. Her ligaments are back like they are supposed to be. The surgeon also moved a leg bone in each leg and then re-secured it with metal implants so that her lateral knee ligaments would be adding addition stability. Fancy stuff. She was only in the animal hospital for about 24 hours. After only 24 hours at home, she's able to go for (very) short walks outside. In a few weeks she should be able to get around like crazy.
