Changing landscape
The appearance of our building lot has changed significantly over the last 10 days. As mentioned before, our septic system is being installed. It's practically finished, and has been inspected by the engineer who approved the original septic design. On Friday, we stood around and admired the view as our septic pump pushed gallons of water out into our newly created mound of sand. It's hard to see the fountains of water, but they looked awfully refreshing on a humid day when the temperature was pushing 90. Not so once the bathrooms are installed, but the septic pipes will be fully covered up in the next day or two.
We also have the beginnings of a boulder retaining wall that will mark the transition in grade from our garage doors to our sun porch. Scot spent part of the day scavenging rocks from around our property and fitting them together. Some of them are pretty large, but should look really great once all the earth is landscaped around them.
Eric and I spent the week installing windows and finishing putting on the house-wrap. Both are pretty much done. We have three basement windows, as well as a 6'x6' window and a bay window above the garage that have yet to be put in their place. The latter two are beasts that will require more than two people to put in.
