How the other side lives
We had a great weekend visiting Sarah and her farm in Natick (which is actually a community farm that she and Matt take care of on weekends in exchange for housing). The biggest exciting news of the weekend was that my favorite sister-in-law surprised us with tickets for the Red Sox-Yankees game at Fenway.
What a phenomenal treat this was, even going with two Red Sox fans and a non-fan (that'd be Julie). What a great baseball town Boston is. Much better than seeing games in Baltimore, Philly, etc. I did wear my Yanks cap, but kept the obnoxiousness to a minimum, and wasn't berated by the Boston fans at all, who were also less obnoxious than expected, although drunk guys on either side of us WERE throwing peanuts into the beers of a bunch of Jeter-jersey wearing Jersey girls a few rows down from us. I even bonded slightly with a large, goatee-wearing, tatoo-covered, shaved head Boston fan in a Harley shirt sitting beside me. That was as much out of fear as anything else. We talked about how bad my team is this year, and he made give him a high-five after a Boston home run. He held up his hand and said, "You know you want to". Yes, yes I do.
My team lost, but it was a great game and craploads of fun. And we took the weekend series anyway.
