Lake Czar
Julie's new job was formally announced on Thursday night at a dinner with a few hundred Lake Champlain lovers. She was introduced by Govenor Jim Douglas himself, who had a few nice things to say about her. The appointment made all the local papers around here, and she's being called the "lake czar". Czar sounds like an important title, however I have yet to get a memo as to whether her wide-reaching authority will extend to the homestead. I figure I better keep up on dishes and laundry just in case.
Burlington, while not metro New York, is a pretty fair sized city by our standards, and it made the headline story of the VT section, here's the link. The Free-Press article was by far the best (probably b/c Burlington is on the lake), but it also made the Montpelier and Rutland papers. She's also had to do some interviews with VPR and WAMC. I'm probably going to get in trouble with her for using the blog as a forum to brag about this stuff, but I can't help it. I'm pretty proud of my czar.
