coming attraction: stairs

There are a lot of projects on our "to-do" list - among them building the stairs between the first and second floor. Dad and Aaron finished the landing (shown here) a couple of weeks ago and have now made all the measurements necessary to order up the treads, risers, and stringers. The plan is to use red oak, both for the stairs and the majority of the downstairs floor.

Eventually there will be bookcases along the wall at the back of the stairs and a railing (of some sort) that provides a safety barrier between the landing and the foyer to the left of the staircase.
