Starting the roof...

We spent the last few days starting the roof. Beginning on the back of the house, we put down the drip edge on the overhangs and steep roof sections. We got the skylight installed in the bathroom, and a little bit larger one over the stairs (on the upper slope). Yesterday we started laying down shingles. It's slow going, but should be faster once we get cruising on the large upper, flatter section. Also, bundles of shingles are heavy, and it's a long climb on those ladders from the ground up to the roof.

Joe and I saw a moose on the way to the site this morning!! The big dopey thing was standing in the middle of the road, about a half mile from the new house. He stood around until Joe had just about gotten his camera out, then walked off into the woods. That's why you always have to have the camera ready. Sarah wouldn't have missed the photo op. Eric unforunately missed the moose sighting, but that's what he gets for going back to Pennsylvania for the weekend to relax at his family reunion while Joe and I are sweating on the roof.
