best. job. ever.

I'm getting ready to head out on my third week of field work tomorrow. Our biomonitoring group does a 5-year rotation where they sample in a different part of the state each year; this year is southern VT. We cruised to Bennington last week; got some good work done, played a little bocce, and even had dinner and beers with dad. We're cruising from stream to stream collecting fish and bugs. We cheat to nab the fish, using a electroshocker to float them to the surface (they revive after a few seconds, but not until they've been netted). The record for the season so far is a gigantic 18"+ brown trout we caught in Furnace Brook (a pretty small stream). I don't have a picture of it handy, so here's a smaller trout instead.
