I picked up a half dozen chicks on Friday - they were somewhere between 24 and 48 hours old at the time. There are three distinct kinds in the mix, although I have no idea what any of them are - we were promised that they are some sort of utilitarian meat/laying breed(s). They should reach full size in about 12 weeks and, should we decide to pursue the egg-laying route, be ready to start producing eggs long-about Labor Day.
