sugar on snow

Grammie and Pop Slack were in town this past weekend, we all enjoyed some of the season's first sugar on snow at the Morse Sugarshack (they just started boiling sap this past week).

For those unfamiliar with this sugary snack, it is nothing more than maple syrup heated to the point it begins to thicken and then poured over shaved ice. When cool, the syrup is a delicious soft taffy-like treat. Here is Vermont, it is eaten with fresh donuts and pickles.

Sounds funny, but take my/our word - it is fantastic!!
