Carl Spackler

Christian and I and some assorted kids went to Massachusetts last weekend to celebrate Matt's birthday; along with many many of Sarah and Matt's Boston area friends. It was a nice trip, full of lots of good food, good guitar and harmonica folk jams (I just listened), and some great group games. One of these games was "Celebrity", which I had never played before. The game involved each of the dozen of us writing down three celebrity names; which could be any actor or fictional character, author, politician, musician, etc. Then there are a variety of charade type rounds to guess the name. One of my names was Carl Spackler. Not a single person in the group of 12 knew who this was. How do a group of people in their 30's not know who this is? Only one of the best characters of all time, from one of the best movies of all time. I came home and asked Julie if she knew who Carl Spackler was, and she did, which made me feel better.
